High-Temperature Wrinkle Paint in Maserati Blue
High-temperature wrinkle paint for the restoration of original sports car engines such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Harley Davidson, Lancia Stratos, Delta HF Integrale, Escort Cosworth.
The high-temperature wrinkle paint is also used for design and decorative objects, such as Nikon camera lenses and furniture items, thanks to its incredible resistance to scratches, heat, and abrasions.
Once cured, it is more resistant than catalyzed paint, but it is essential to strictly follow the technical data sheet instructions to achieve the desired results.
To correctly use and apply this product on engines, it is mandatory to use our high-temperature primers. For other applications in design and architecture, we recommend reading the technical data sheet and contacting our office.
It should be noted that the only difference between the liquid and spray versions lies in the spray's difficulty covering large components such as some engine heads and design objects, as the spray cannot coat large surfaces uniformly. Therefore, for professional work, we recommend using the liquid version applied with automotive spray guns.

PREPARATION OF METAL OR ALLOY PARTS
Parts must:
- Be sandblasted if necessary, and if sandblasted, they must be painted with a primer within 2 hours of sandblasting. Parts must not be handled without gloves and should never be touched with bare hands. Use only our aviation-grade silicone remover to degrease and clean.
- Be thoroughly cleaned and blown with compressed air.
- Be free of old paint or rust residues with sandpaper if not sandblasted.
- Be prepared using one of our specialized primers, available in spray or catalyzed liquid forms.
PREPARATION OF PLASTIC PARTS
Plastic parts must:
- Be cleaned with antistatic degreasers like our universal silicone remover.
- Be stripped of any old or residual paint.
- Be prepared with our plastic adhesion primer.
APPLICATION OF WRINKLE PAINT
The following rules apply to both the spray and liquid professional versions.
If using the spray, shake it and begin application. For the liquid version, shake the can for a few seconds and load it into a spray gun with a 1.3 or 1.4 nozzle, filtering the paint with appropriate automotive filters. Avoid using larger nozzles such as 1.7 or 1.8, as they are too large.
- After applying one or two coats of primer, let it dry thoroughly for one hour.
- Begin by applying a light anchoring coat and wait 10 minutes, regardless of the season.
- Apply the first full and compact coat. A "full coat" means the surface should appear glossy and uniformly wet. Push to the limit of dripping for optimal results. Wait 10 minutes (15 in winter).
- Apply the second full coat and wait 10-15 minutes.
- Apply the third full coat and wait 20-30 minutes.
BAKING AND WRINKLING PROCESS
Important Notes
The wrinkle paint fully cures in 20 days at room temperature or 30 days in winter. To speed up curing, place the part in an oven for 3 hours at 50-60°C. Be cautious, as prolonged exposure to heat can alter the wrinkle pattern and aesthetic.
BAKING METHODS
Small Oven
If you have a disused household oven and the parts fit inside, set it to convection or static mode at 80°C for one hour. Afterward, allow the parts to cool for 12 hours before handling, and wait at least a week before assembling.
Professional Heat Gun
Use a professional heat gun to evenly heat the parts until the paint wrinkles. Be aware that heat guns provide inconsistent heat, potentially leading to uneven wrinkling or smooth spots. Using two heat guns simultaneously can improve results. This method is only suitable for small items.
Infrared Lamps
Infrared lamps provide the best results for this paint. Place the parts under the lamps, wait for complete wrinkling, then turn off the lamps. Allow the parts to cure for one week before assembly and 12 hours before handling.
REASSEMBLY AND GASOLINE RESISTANCE
For maximum resistance, wait 30 days if cured at room temperature or 15 days if cured with infrared lamps or in an oven.
AESTHETIC CHARACTERISTICS
The wrinkle paint has a unique textured appearance, similar to corduroy velvet.
The size of the wrinkles depends on the number of paint layers applied.
Famous wrinkle patterns include those on the Harley Davidson Nightster engine, Ferrari engine, and Lamborghini engine.
DURABILITY
Once dried, it is more durable than catalyzed paint despite being a single-component product.
