The red, yellow, and gray wrinkle paint must be applied ONLY on the White Wrinkle Primer.
If applied on other primers, it may lead to severe defects over time and detachment.
Ideal for motorcycles, cars, boats, and decorative or design objects.
The spray is recommended for not-too-large components, such as engine heads.
Not recommended for entire engines.
Not for use on exhausts or manifolds.
Resistant to the high temperatures of Ferrari, Lamborghini, and other supercar engines.
It is also available in a liquid version for professionals with spray gun application.
To replicate the color of the engine block, the XL version with a larger wrinkle texture must be used.
Ferrari Gray Wrinkle Paint (Wrinkle Paint Air Intake Ferrari Metal Gray) for Car and Motorcycle Engines
High-temperature wrinkle paint for Ferrari Silver Gray engines, Maserati, Lamborghini, and Harley Davidson.
High-temperature wrinkle paint spray for the original restoration of sports engines such as: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Harley Davidson, Lancia Stratos, Delta HF Integrale, Escort Cosworth.
This high-temperature wrinkle paint is also used for design and decorative objects such as Nikon camera lenses and furniture items, thanks to its incredible resistance to scratches, heat, and abrasions.
Once dried, it is more resistant than catalyzed paint, but it is essential to follow the technical sheet instructions to achieve these results.
To properly use and apply this product on engines, it is mandatory to use our high-temperature primers. For other applications in design and architecture, we recommend reading the technical sheet and contacting our office.
Differences Between Liquid and Spray Versions
- The spray version comes in standard medium-small wrinkle texture and XL wrinkle texture, which matches the original liquid automotive version.
- The spray version makes it difficult to cover large components such as engine heads or design objects, as the spray cannot evenly coat large surfaces. For professional work, we recommend the liquid version applied with automotive spray guns.
Preparation of Metal or Alloy Parts
- Use our Wrinkle Primer exclusively and mandatorily.
- Sandblast and apply the primer WRINKLE PAINT within 2 hours of sandblasting.
- Handle parts with latex gloves to avoid oxidation and degrease them with WRINKLE PAINT degreaser.
- Thoroughly clean and blow with compressed air.
- Remove old paint or rust residues with sandpaper if not sandblasted.
- Prepare with our primers (spray or liquid WRINKLE PAINT, no other brands).
- If more than 2 hours pass, re-sandblast the part.
Preparation of Plastic Parts
- Always apply Wrinkle Primer on plastic parts.
- Clean with anti-static degreasers like our universal anti-silicone degreaser.
- Remove any old or residual paint.
- Prepare with WRINKLE PRIMER plastic adhesion promoter.
Application of Wrinkle Paint
These rules apply to both spray and professional liquid versions as the application technique is the same.
- For the spray version, shake the can and begin painting.
- For the liquid version, shake the can briefly and pour it into a spray gun with a 1.3 or 1.4 nozzle, filtering it with automotive paint strainers. Do not use other nozzle sizes.
- After applying one or two coats of primer, wait for it to dry for one hour at room temperature. Then directly apply the wrinkle paint.
Coating Steps:
- Apply a light tack coat and wait 5 minutes at room temperature.
- Apply the first full wet coat and wait 5 minutes (summer) or 15 minutes (winter).
- Apply the second full wet coat and wait the same duration as above.
- Apply the third full wet coat and wait 20 minutes (summer) or 45 minutes (winter) before starting to heat for wrinkling.
Curing and Wrinkling Process
- Thermal Gun: Ideal for small parts or engine heads like those of Lancia Thema Ferrari or Delta HF Integrale. Not recommended for larger parts like Ferrari engine heads unless two people are working simultaneously.
- Oven: Use a household or automotive oven at 70°C until the piece is fully wrinkled. Stop heating once the wrinkling is complete and allow the part to cool for 12 hours.
Assembly Time and Resistance to Fuel
- Handle parts the day after wrinkling.
- Mount parts on engines after 48–72 hours, but be cautious with bolts as the paint fully cures in 1–3 weeks, depending on ambient temperature.
