High-Temperature Wrinkle Spray Paint

High-Temperature Wrinkle Spray Paint for the original restoration of sports engines such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Harley Davidson, Lancia Stratos, Delta HF Integrale, and Escort Cosworth.

This high-temperature wrinkle engine paint is also used for design and decorative objects, such as Nikon camera lenses and furniture pieces, thanks to its incredible resistance to scratches, heat, and abrasions. Once cured, it is more durable than catalyzed paint, but it is essential to follow the guidelines in the technical datasheet to achieve these results.

To use and apply this product correctly on engines, it is mandatory to use our high-temperature primers. For other applications in design and architecture, we recommend reading the technical datasheet and contacting our office.

Differences Between Spray and Liquid Versions

1. The spray version comes in a standard fine wrinkle texture and an XL version with larger wrinkles, similar to the original liquid bodywork paint.
2. Spray paint is not suitable for large components like engine heads or large design objects, as it cannot evenly cover larger surfaces. For professional projects, we recommend using the liquid version, which can be applied with bodywork spray guns.

PREPARATION OF METAL OR ALLOY PARTS

• Exclusively and obligatorily use our Wrinkle Primer.

Preparation Steps:

1. Sandblast the parts and apply the WRINKLE PAINT primer within 2 hours of sandblasting.
2. Handle parts with latex gloves to avoid oxidation. After sandblasting, degrease with WRINKLE PAINT degreaser.
3. Clean thoroughly with compressed air.
4. Remove old paint or rust residues with abrasive paper if not sandblasted.
5. Prepare parts with our specific primers, either spray or liquid WRINKLE PAINT (no other brands).
6. If more than 2 hours pass, it is recommended to sandblast again.

PREPARATION OF PLASTIC PARTS

• Always apply the Wrinkle Primer on plastic parts.

Plastic Parts Preparation Steps:

1. Clean with antistatic degreasers, such as our universal anti-silicone degreaser.
2. Remove any old or residual paint.
3. Prepare with our WRINKLE PRIMER plastic adhesion promoter.

APPLICATION OF WRINKLE PAINT

These rules apply to both spray paint and the professional liquid version, as the application technique is the same.

• Spray Paint: Shake the can and start painting.
• Liquid Paint: Shake the can briefly, then pour it into a spray gun with a 1.3 or 1.4 nozzle, using filters for bodywork paints. Do not use other nozzle sizes.

Steps:

1. After applying one or two primer coats, allow to dry for one hour at room temperature.
2. Start with a light anchor coat of wrinkle paint and wait 5 minutes at room temperature.
3. Apply the first full coat, ensuring the surface looks glossy and wet to avoid product failure. Wait 5 minutes in summer or 15 minutes in winter.
4. Apply the second full coat and wait again as above.
5. Apply a third full coat and wait 20 minutes in summer or 45 minutes in winter before starting the heating process.

CURING AND WRINKLING PROCESS

General Notes:

• Wrinkle paint fully cures in 20 days at room temperature or 30 days in winter. For faster curing, bake for 3 hours at 50-60°C, but excessive heating may alter the wrinkle texture.

Curing Methods:

1. Small or Bodywork Oven:

   • Place the pieces in a preheated oven at 70°C for 30 minutes.
   • Allow to cool for 12 hours before handling, and wait 1 week before assembling.

2. Heat Gun:

   • Use a professional heat gun to heat parts evenly until wrinkles form.
   • This method is suitable only for small objects, as temperature consistency is difficult.

3. Infrared Lamps:

   • Position parts under infrared lamps and wait for complete wrinkling. Allow 1 week before assembling parts and 12 hours before handling.

4. Sunlight in Summer:

   • On hot days (25°C), parts can be left in direct sunlight to achieve wrinkling, ensuring all surfaces are exposed to sunlight.

REASSEMBLY AND GASOLINE RESISTANCE

• For maximum durability, wait 30 days if dried at room temperature or 15 days if cured with heat or infrared lamps.
• Parts can be reassembled after 48-72 hours but remain delicate until fully cured.

Aesthetic Characteristics

• Wrinkle paint creates a unique ribbed velvet-like appearance.
• Wrinkle size varies based on the number of coats applied.
