High Temperature Liquid Matte Black Ceramic Paint 650° - 250g

This special paint, designed to withstand high temperatures, is intended for painting areas such as exhaust manifolds, tips, boilers, etc., that reach temperatures over 300°C.

We also produce a version that withstands up to 1800°C, available upon request via WhatsApp at +393342272665.

PREPARATION OF SURFACES

  • The best way to apply this product is on bare, sanded, or sandblasted metal.
  • If sanding the metal, use soft body shop sandpaper starting with grit 340/400, followed by 500, 600, and, if possible, 800.
  • Always wear latex gloves when handling components to prevent skin oils from causing oxidation on the metal afterward.
  • For degreasing the metal before painting, use our aeronautical degreaser.

PAINTING

The liquid version and spray version are the same; the only difference is that with the liquid version, you have more control using a spray gun, allowing you to paint more parts.

  1. Shake the spray can or canister, and apply a light base coat.
  2. Wait 15 minutes and apply a thicker coat.
  3. Wait another 15 minutes and apply the final coat—not too thick, but evenly applied.
  4. At this point, wait until the piece becomes completely matte, then let it rest for 12 hours before curing it.

BAKING METHOD 1

  • The best method to bake and cure the paint to achieve high resistance is to use an appropriate oven. However, we understand that not everyone has one, so we will advise you on an alternative method that can be done with accuracy and is easy to carry out.
  • Gently take the exhaust and place it on a workbench, ensuring it doesn't get scratched. Start heating the collector area using a heat gun at maximum power.
  • Be careful not to stay on one spot for too long, as the paint may bubble and crack. The temperature increase must be gradual and progressive.
  • After a few minutes, the paint will start to smoke, which means it is curing properly.
  • When the smoke stops, allow the part to cool for 12 hours before using the motorcycle.

BAKING METHOD 2

  • After waiting 12 hours, gently mount the exhaust and start the vehicle. Let it idle for a few minutes without accelerating; otherwise, the paint won't cure but will crack.
  • Constantly monitor the exhaust. Once it begins to smoke, turn off the engine and let it cool for an hour.
  • Then, restart the vehicle and repeat the previous procedure, this time letting the exhaust emit smoke for a bit longer. Allow it to cool again for an hour.
  • Repeat the process one last time and then let it rest overnight.
  • The following day, the motorcycle can be used.

IMPORTANT NOTE

During the baking process, only the collector area will emit smoke, while the rest of the parts, not reaching certain temperatures, will not emit any vapor.

Be cautious of the amount of time the paint is exposed to heat. If the exposure time during the first bake is too long, the paint near the collectors may burn as it won't have time to polymerize gradually. The motorcycle at idle produces heat at the collector's mouth that increases quickly, not giving the paint time to cure gradually. This is why we need to turn the engine off and on repeatedly.

FINAL ANALYSIS

Curing high-temperature paint is not easy, and the advice given here is only indicative and may not work perfectly. The procedure described is quite basic and not technically correct, as it is not manageable in a constant and precise manner. Therefore, we do not take responsibility for any issues that may arise during or after the process.
